A feather from a red-tailed hawk got stuck to a branch on a tree and is blowing in the wind. I understand that these are sacred to indigenous peoples of North America, and that they are illegal to own. I did not pick it off - just left it there to waft as it would. There is at least one red-tail hawk family living on my property. Unfortunately, those who refuse to take their cats indoors soon lose the kittens born to these hawks. I actually saw one carry a kitten off one time. So sad, but that is nature.
I have been taking photographs since my Mom gave me my first camera for my 16th birthday. Sure wish we'd had digital way back then. I have no formal training but people tell me I have a good eye. I enjoy taking photos of just about anything, but prefer landscapes and nature photography. I also enjoy using the available filters in Paint Shop Pro. Even Ansel Adams fiddled with his photos by using exacto knives and chemicals. :) If you would like wording added to any of these images, or a color image in black and white, or a black and white image in color, please send me an email through this site, and I will be very happy to customize for you. A Graceful Margin
I see them in the valley below, catching thermals, stroking perfect dark lines in the cool blue sky, and I forget that they, like we, are made of very fine things, indeed… ^.^
