Blue Jays are known for their intelligence and complex social systems with tight family bonds. Their fondness for acorns is credited with helping spread oak trees after the last glacial period. Yeah, but this guy stuffed 35 pieces of corn into his gullet before he left my yard. lol
I have been taking photographs since my Mom gave me my first camera for my 16th birthday. Sure wish we'd had digital way back then. I have no formal training but people tell me I have a good eye. I enjoy taking photos of just about anything, but prefer landscapes and nature photography. I also enjoy using the available filters in Paint Shop Pro. Even Ansel Adams fiddled with his photos by using exacto knives and chemicals. :) If you would like wording added to any of these images, or a color image in black and white, or a black and white image in color, please send me an email through this site, and I will be very happy to customize for you. Thanks for viewing my work.

Beautiful!

Thank you, Anne. I find them particularly hard to photograph. It's very rare that they will sit still long enough for me to focus. :)
Anne Norskog
I love your pretty jay! They are such beautiful birds to see flying in to have a nibble at our feeder.

Thanks, Andee. :)

Love this blue little bird...and Toronto's baseball team is the Blue Jays !!!
Kristin Elmquist
Thanks, Judy. I'll have to try that. I am always so intent on getting the focus right. I do use the moving objects setting on my camera but hadn't thought about using the series setting.
Judy Filarecki
I see you are a bird lover, also. Nice shot. I started using the setting for fast moving objects on my camera with auto focus and then just holding the button down to get a series of shots. It works pretty well.

They are a difficult subject, Anthony. They don't tend to stay too long in one location and move very quickly. Thanks for your compliment. :)
Anthony Wilder
These have always been hard for me to capture, great job!!!

Thank you both, Roy and Sue, your nice comments are appreciated. :)

Cute capture, Kristin! Thanks for your recent comment on my "Mr Bluebird" photo! :-)

Beautiful Kristin!

Thanks, Ann and Mary. Ann, I'm sure he would have put up with any type of weather to get to that corn. Everything else was encased in ice. Mary, I couldn't believe how many pieces of corn he was able to fit into his gullet. After he took the first 7 or 8, I started counting how many pieces. lol
Mary Wolf
Such a beautiful one, Kristin, but he sure has a big appetite!
Ann Horn
Wonderful capture, Kristin. Looks like the jay likes cold feet!
